Conception

If I
Were just a shallow experiencer
Wading through misconceptions
And you
Recognised this
But told me nothing

What wondrous winters would stretch out the present
A blinding cocoon
To block out the unpleasant
Part of me waiting, mired, debating
And old, before I chanced to notice.

Now, sacred and hidden, our layer is the verge
Though often intangible I sense it now
The cool clear deep waters of the fountain that floods
All raw elements that around us abound.

But to grace it
To pass through this place
You strip your glass body
Bare at the gates
And let life’s fury take charge of your fate
Breaking your core into shards.

So why do we dare bear the world’s weight alone?
Facing a terror that can never be won
Best leave the chaos for others to roam
And call life’s struggles idle.
